Sunny and Warmer

40 degrees seems so warm. Need to get the sledding in before the snow all melts.

No more snow

[It'll probably take a minute for this page to load, as there is a lot of embedded video.]

Everyone's a comedian.

Oh my. There's snow.

Weather Advisory Update

To be fair, the advisory officially begins at 8pm, which is about an hour after this update was taped.

Winter Weather Advisory

Great. And we have to drive to Loverlyland in this mess.

It is snowing thick heavy snow

And that snow is sticking to our satellite dish, so we can't watch TV.

Oh boo.

It's been warm

Up in the 90's. Have had a hard time keeping the hot tub cool.

Tornado!

We're all hanging in the basement cuz there's a tornado about 15 miles from here. In theory, it is moving away form us and not towards, but I brought the nightstand gun down anyways, just in case there's looting.

Weather Danger

Thursday night, we all got to watch the most interesting cloud activity roll in over us. It started out sunny, then this big, dark cluster of clouds came zipping in from the north. Here is what the edge of it looked like from our back deck:

This is roughly the same shot in portrait mode. In this shot, you can see how there are a couple layers to the clouds, with big white puffy ones on top and dark, story ones on the bottom. If you look closely beneath the clouds and the horizon, you can see how it is raining in the distance in the left half of the shot, but not in the right.

This shot was taken facing east. It was a wonderful, sunny day right before this, and it gives you a good feel for that.

More happy and sad clouds.

HannahC kept yelling "funnel cloud! funnel cloud!" every time she saw a cloud. This little do-jobber here is about as close as we came to a funnel cloud.

Shortly thereafter, another set of clouds came whipping in from the south and proceeded to form a large, rotating mass of clouds with the edge almost directly over out house. We watched it out the basement windows. The pictures don't do it justice (they just look like one big cloud, as you can't see the circular motion on a still), and they don't look great having been taken through a window in a storm.

In the end, we got a bunch of wind and about 30 seconds of rain, and the whole thing was gone in a half hour.

It is warm

But it will rain tonight seeing as I want to rototill the garden tomorrow.

Getting warm again

It'll be summer by Wednesday.

Cheated Again

Again with the blizzard hype, again with a big disappointment. 10-20" of snow has turned into nothing but rain. Rain rain rain. Not that I mind rain, since it only rains around here about 10 times a year, but they promised snow and didn't deliver.

Los bastardos.

They said we'd get 6 inches

But we just got a smattering.

Like prom night all over again, as it were.

Monday, March 30, 2009

Oh, the wind

Yesterday, I pumped up the tires to 40psi and cleaned the MAC air cleaner on the old truckster, so I was eagerly awaiting the gratifying boost in fuel economy.

But then, I had to drive north into a 30mph wind. I couldn't get out of third gear and still hold highway speeds.

Some things suck.

And not in a good way.

I cannot believe...

...that you can think about the weather at a time like this. I mean, it's bad enough that I ran out of Captain Morgan two days ago, but tonight I ran out of Southern Comfort as well, and I'm down to my last couple ounces of Jack.

Heartless bastards.

It has turned chilly

I almost feel moved to poetry. Almost.

It was supposed to be in the 50's today. I experienced mostly the 30's. Brrr...

I think I need new shocks in my truck. The old ones are getting jouncy and squeeky. But they only have 55k miles on them, and damnit shocks should last longer than that. But who knows. Everything is so cheaply made these days.

Poetic weather

Sun
Moon
Then sun again

The wind
It blows
Then calm again

Warmth
Cold
Then someone's icy cold toes on your back in the middle of the night you bastards

I like
The weather
Whether or Not you do

What a nice day

It was warm and sunny. Like springtime. I spent a lot of time outside.

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

It snowed today

Big, fluffy flakes cuz it was just above freezing. Stuck to the grass but not to the road. It'll probably be icy in the morning.

Weather Alert!

Our weather alert radio just sounded an alarm. There is a high wind warning tonight. Oh joy.

Monday, January 26, 2009

I am overwhelmed

3 inches of snow. Enough to get out My Beloved, but not enough to really enjoy the living hell out of it.

Saturday, January 24, 2009

Snow or no?

The Mrs. just came in to say we "may" get 15" of snow by Monday. Seems like a lot of wiggle room in that forecast.

We shall see. My snowblower is getting lonely.

Darnit

We have a fat toad and a fat frog, and we're all out of crickets again.

The Sun was Beautiful

As long as you didn't stare directly at it.

It was both warm and cold today, depending upon cloud cover. I had to clean out the filters on the back pond, and I nearly froze myself to death mucking with the compression fittings. That water was heap cold. I had to come inside to run warm water on my fingers after the first one. The second one is easier, and thus quicker, so I didn't lose any sensation on that one.

I miss snow. I wish it would snow here. It's just not fair that the rest of the country is having record snow, and we've hardly had any at all. It snowed only twice so far, and it's all gone.

Oh poo.

I'm kind of upset

I spent a lot of time over a month ago creating custom icons for my blogs so that you didn't get the B in an orange box generic icon of blogger when you loaded the pages inside Firefox, and no one even noticed. And I know a lot of you use firefox, cuz statcounter tells me.

I'm better

The Mrs. is worse.

It's like prom night all over again, as they say.
